Congratulations—you’re planning your dream wedding! It’s time to set the date, solidify your wedding style, and perhaps most important of all. . . choose your wedding vendors. How do you find the perfect Dallas wedding photographer for YOU and your big day?

Finding the best wedding photographer in Dallas is a big decision, and it’s about so much more than just pretty photos. Your photographer is with you during some of the most personal, emotional moments of your wedding day, so you want someone who makes you feel totally at ease.

As a wedding photographer based in DFW, I know what really matters when hiring someone to document your day. From understanding editing style to setting your budget, I’m sharing all the questions you should consider so you can feel completely confident choosing your dream wedding photographer.

What Photography Style Speaks to You?

The first step to finding your wedding photographer? Figure out what visual style feels right to you. If you’ve landed here, there’s a good chance you’re drawn to my vibrant, romantic, and timeless approach. My editing style keeps skin tones true to life and my colors are always rich and vibrant. I want you to feel like your photos belong in a magazine spread, but that they still look (and feel) exactly like you.

What’s Your Wedding Photography Budget?

How much does a Dallas wedding photographer cost? The truth is, it can vary wildly, so it’s important to be clear on what you want included in your coverage. Do you want an engagement session before the big day? Two or more photographers? Full-day coverage from getting ready to final send-offs?

My wedding photography packages start at $2600 for six hours and increase as we add more hours of coverage and additional photographers and locations. You can see a full breakdown of my pricing here, but if you’re unsure what’s right for you, I’m always happy to talk through the options so you get exactly what you’re looking for!

How Many Photographers Should You Contact?

Here’s my honest advice as someone who’s worked with a lot of couples: don’t try to interview ten different people. Research the photography styles you like best, then make a shortlist of up to five wedding photographers to reach out to (if I’m on your shortlist, you can inquire with me here!).

More than that? You’re setting yourself up for wedding planning burnout and adding unnecessary stress to the process. You’re most likely already speaking to dozens of other wedding vendors, so try to limit yourself to a few favorites within each service so you don’t experience decision fatigue.

Can They Edit All Skin Tones Well?

If you or your partner have darker skin, it’s important to make sure your photographer knows how to edit it beautifully. As a Black woman, I can tell immediately when another photographer does not have experience editing diverse skin tones. Not only has this happened to me, but I’ve had too many couples tell me about past shoots when their skin was lightened, washed out, or edited to look orange.

My goal is for your photos to look warm and vibrant—and I have the personal and professional experience to make sure that happens! You deserve photos where you look like your best, most authentic self, so make sure your photographer shows diversity in their portfolio and their editing style when you’re making your choice.

Do You Vibe with Their Personality?

Your wedding photographer is basically your honorary hype person and therapist for the day. So yes—personality matters! As a fun and laid-back person, I’m not just snapping photos—I’m fixing your veil, calming your nerves, and making you laugh when the timeline gets tight. More than that, I’ll help you feel confident and seen throughout the entire day.

What Are Past Clients Saying?

Reviews matter! Reading testimonials is a great way to learn how a photographer really shows up for their clients. I’m proud to have kind words from both couples and vendors—don’t be afraid to ask your photographer for reviews or full wedding galleries. Seeing how they show up across an entire day gives you a clearer picture than one Instagram highlight ever could. And if a potential wedding photographer doesn’t have testimonials? That’s a red flag.

Do They Offer a Consultation Call?

A consultation isn’t just about pricing and packages—it’s about connection. I always recommend a video chat (or phone call at minimum) before you book. That way, we can talk through your vision, your priorities, and see if we’re a good fit. A quick call helps us both feel confident moving forward.
